    India is a land of vibrant culture, exquisite cuisine, and fascinating traditions. It is also home to a thriving export industry that has been steadily growing over the years. At the forefront of this industry is the Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO), an apex body that has been championing India’s exports since 1965.

    FIEO is a non-profit entity that represents Indian entrepreneurs’ spirit of enterprise in the global market. It provides guidance, support, and direction to thousands of Indian exporters, helping them navigate the complex world of international trade. They are the bridge that connects Indian exporters to the rest of the world, helping them showcase their products and services to a global audience.

    The federation represents Indian exporters in international forums, trade fairs, and exhibitions ensuring that their voices are heard on the global stage. They work closely with the Government of India to develop policies and initiatives that promote Indian exports. In one such event that they organized in the USA, Tradyl had the opportunity of participating in the FIEO Buyer-Seller Meet in Los Angeles.


    The exhibit happened at Fashion Tech Centre in Downtown Los Angeles, with manufacturers and suppliers coming in from different manufacturing clusters of India. Each of us was given a stall to showcase the exquisite collection to the buyers from California, who were looking at sourcing quality Indian manufactured products. It was a great opportunity for Tradyl to interact with them to understand the sourcing needs of the US market.

    We got the opportunity to interact with esteemed individuals including Padma Shri Dr. A Sakthivel (President of FIEO, & Chairman of AEPC), the Consul General of India in San Francisco Dr. TV Nagendra Prasad and Managing Director, Triburg USA, Mr. Vikash Chawala. We also had discussions with Fashion & Home industry leaders such as Mr. Gaurav Bhargava (President at LPH Apparel Inc) and Mr. Sahil Chaudry (Director RAGA & RAGA Man), fellow exporters Ms. Dhanya Sugathan (CEO at Artizenery), Mr. Arvind Kumar (Director at Arbhu Enterprises), Ms. Supriya Rocha (Founder at Karmadori), Mr. Krishnamoorthy Natarajan (Managing Partner at SV Knits) and many more. A special mention and thank you to Mr. Rohit Tejpal (Deputy General MRD in Federation of Indian Exports Organisation) for organising this event and bringing everyone together on this international platform.

    Tradyl at IIGF 68th Edition – Sneak peek into our experience

    Fashion Trade Fair

    Fashion trade fairs can be an exciting and valuable experience for those in the fashion industry. From meeting brands, suppliers, and manufacturers to interacting with potential buyers, these events offer the perfect opportunity to discover new trends, connect with industry professionals, and promote your brand to customers. This year’s India International Garment Fair (IIGF) was all about this! The three-day biennial fair was organized by International Garment Fair Association at the India Expo Mart in Greater Noida between 7th-9th February 2023. According to the event officials, around 250 exhibitors from 10 states of India were present to showcase their products for the Autumn/Winter season of 2023-24. The fair also saw around 1,128 international buyers from 101 countries.

    According to Hindustan Times, India’s annual textile and apparel export stood at USD 44.4 billion in FY 2022-23 with an increase of 41%, compared to last year and India is the second largest textile and clothing exporter in the world. Hence, in view of the huge potential for employment generation and foreign exchange earnings, the apparel and textile industry has become a priority for the ministry. Each edition of IIGF ropes in an export business of around USD 200 million to India. This time, it is expected to reach around USD 350 million. 

    Event Overview 

    The event included buyers from the European Union, USA, Spain, Japan, South Africa, and other western markets. The kind of trends & prints that were seen this year at the fair were mainly bold prints, Bohemian designs, woven clothing, knitwear clothing, and party wear. There were also a few stalls that were exclusive for just accessories like handbags, hairbands, earrings, etc. As an Indian exporter ourselves, it was a very proud moment for us to see the various categories that the Indian suppliers had to offer. The diversity of the products displayed sure helped the buyers walk out with sourcing whatever they had in mind. It wasn’t just the products that were displayed that were jaw dropping, the concept stalls, installations, and the grandeur with which the suppliers had displayed their stall was truly breathtaking! The fair definitely showcased that India was here to take the export world by storm and soon we would be taking over the leading giant exporters of the world! 

    IIGF 68th Edition

    What made IIGF a lot more inclusive for Tradyl was that a special pavilion had also been provided by IIGF to exporters who specialize in menswear, kids wear, and knitwear in order to increase their participation at this year’s fair. This was one of the biggest perks for us, as we ended up getting one of the first few stalls at the event! This did help us in getting a lot of prospective buyers who were looking at sourcing knitwear for men and kids. The buyers were looking at suppliers who could work with factories in the Knitwear Capital of India, Tirupur, and help in manufacturing low MOQ. It was indeed quite impressive to see the knowledge these international buyers already had with respect to sourcing from India. This made us realize what is the true potential of Indian-manufactured products in the international marketplace.

    One of the most valuable benefits of attending IIGF was the unparalleled networking opportunity it provides to small businesses and newcomers to the fashion industry. While the exposure helped us in reaching out to a whole new client base, building new connections may further broaden business prospects. Attending trade shows like this allows us to save time and energy in arranging separate meetings with different clients. 

    At the end of the day, Tradyl’s experience was phenomenal at the trade fair. We got to represent the products that our suppliers have manufactured for us from various parts of India like Tirupur, Delhi, Ludhiana, Surat, and Jaipur. Showcasing the diversity of products created by our manufacturers and giving them a new face in the international market is what fuels our drive to work better and harder in this kind of business model.

    Our team had the opportunity of attending the MAGIC Fashion Trade Show, in Las Vegas. The event was a dazzling one with fashionistas, designers, retailers, and all kinds of industry professionals. They all came to show off their latest collections, meet potential buyers, brands, and manufacturers, and have some serious fun!


    Imagine stepping into a wonderland of fashion where you can find the latest trends in apparel, home, footwear, and accessories for both men and women. That was what MAGIC was all about! The event had the brightest colors, the boldest prints, and the most fabulous trends that would definitely make any fashion enthusiast go gaga!


    Before I tell you about our team’s experience at MAGIC, let me tell you a bit about the trade show itself. The MAGIC Fashion Trade Show is a bi-annual event that takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada, and is one of the most prominent fashion trade shows in the world. Informa Markets organized the event and they help bring together the entire fashion industry under one roof. 

    The trade show features several different sub-events that one can explore, each catering to different segments of the fashion industry like MAGIC Men’s, PROJECT, WWDMAGIC, POOLTRADESHOW, and SOURCING AT MAGIC. Here, one can discover emerging fashion brands and designers, high-end fashion labels, and textile and apparel manufacturers from around the world. But it’s not just about the exhibitors! The event has fashion shows, installations, experiential stalls, seminars, workshops, and a lot more, and one can truly experience fashion at its best!

    Moving on to our experience at MAGIC, it was truly breathtaking. Our founder, Ms. Shweta Agrawal, and our Sales Head, Mr. Sandeep Verma attended the event. They witnessed the stalls put up by various exhibitors from around the world like China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, and India. They not only got to see the apparel & accessories that the countries had to offer but also learnt so much about the business side of the fashion industry, from marketing and branding to supply chain management and sustainability.

    They also connected with like-minded individuals who shared a passion for fashion. From fellow attendees to exhibitors and vendors, everyone was so friendly and welcoming, and it definitely helped in making some valuable connections that we hope to maintain for years to come. They got to discuss with them the future of this industry, sourcing low MOQs, the stand of Indian manufacturers in the industry, and a lot more. 


    MAGIC was a great event for large-scale manufacturers and buyers. But for a company like ours which particularly specializes in helping small to medium-scale buyers, we felt that there were a lot of limitations. This is what our founder, Ms. Shweta Agarwal had to say about how MAGIC could be more accommodating for small-medium scale manufacturers and buyers.


    “MAGIC was an amalgamation of buyers, brands, and manufacturers from all over the world. We met a lot of the participants and noticed that most of them were bigger established enterprises. It further got us thinking about the small manufacturers who have great products suitable for the US market but do not have the resources to come and participate in an event of this scale, especially when they are located overseas. We even met some smaller buyers who were looking at sourcing with lower MOQs, but they couldn’t find relevant manufacturers in such fairs. The only place they are able to meet such suppliers is online.”


    Typically, small buyers’ source from online platforms like AliExpress, DHGate, and Alibaba. But a lot of such businesses are looking to diversify sourcing outside of China. Tradyl is building such an option from India that acts as the bridge between small-medium scale manufacturers in India and buyers across the world. 

    Overall, attending MAGIC was an unforgettable experience that we will always cherish. It gave us a glimpse into the exciting world of fashion and allowed us to meet some of the most inspiring people in the industry. It is a must-attend event for anyone in the fashion industry looking to stay up to date with the latest trends, network with industry professionals, and discover new business opportunities!
